Leslie J. Dorrett has spent the last 25 years pursuing a practice
in civil litigation, centered exclusively on personal injury, insurance and
disability litigation. Ms. Dorrett's practice is strictly a Plaintiff's
practice, with a primary focus on cases involving traumatic brain injury,
spinal cord injuries, chronic pain conditions, along with other permanent and
serious disabilities. She has appeared in numerous forums
throughout Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario
Provincial Court, the Assessment Review Board, the Financial Services
Commission of Ontario, the Workers Compensation Appeals Tribunal, the Ontario
Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
After spending the first few
years of her legal career as insurance Defence Counsel, Ms. Dorrett
soon recognized her strong preference for advocating on behalf
of the seriously injured and permanently disabled. Since her transition to a
plaintiff orientated practice, she has represented
over 1,000 injured clients in Ontario and has
recovered over an estimated 60 million dollars in damage settlements and awards
from Ontario insurers on behalf of accident victims.
Ms. Dorrett's education in
international schools in Japan, Indonesia, Germany and Canada,
has given her a first hand understanding of
different cultures and their representational needs.
